5. Are there any limitations to dtf?

If you’re looking to get custom garments printed with your own design, it’s important to ensure that your artwork is suitable for the printing process. Here are some tips for creating artwork that will result in high-quality prints.

Avoid Artwork with Tiny Details Below 9PT

It’s important to avoid using artwork with super tiny details that are below the 9PT mark. This is because such details will not get underbased and are unlikely to get transferred correctly onto the garment or fabric. Therefore, it’s advisable to use larger, bolder designs that will be more easily visible.

Transparent or Translucent Gradient is Not Recommended

While transparent or translucent gradients may look great on screen, they’re not recommended for garment printing. This is because such designs will lose their blending effect, and any transparency of 30-40% will begin to break, creating jagged edges in your artwork. The printer will lay white under them, thinking that there is color there. To avoid this, it’s best to use solid colors or halftones, which will result in a cleaner, crisper print.

Check Your Artwork Edge Quality

To ensure the highest print quality, it’s important to check your artwork edge quality. Make sure that your edges are sharp enough, and that there are no “dirty” colors resulting from a poorly removed background process. A clean, crisp design will result in a more professional-looking garment.

Photographs are now possible

One advantage of garment printing is that, because the printer is essentially a full-color printer, you can easily print photographs. This is in contrast to screen printing, which is limited to a smaller range of colors. Therefore, if you have a photograph that you want to use on your garment, garment printing is likely to be the better option.
